This was put together for a friend to help her understand lighting and the effects of the different strobes and lighting elements. I took shots with the different lights on/off to show the effects of each and its influence on the others as well.
This was a very basic setup, but worked well to help her understand how to light people in her studio efforts.
Ambient Shot

There should be very little to no ambient light spilling into the scene to cause issues, reflections etc. This is a good way to test that before shooting. |

Background Lit

Background metered at f/6.3. 2 AC strobes with shoot through umbrellas. |
Hair Light

2 Vivitar 2800 flashes into a gold umbrella on boom above and behind. |
|
Fill Light

Fill Light metered at f/2.8 knowing the hairlight was contributing being shot into an umbrella. 100ws strobe @ 1/2 pwr bounced into umbrella directly behind and above camera. |
Fill + Hair

You can see the increased reading with the hair light plus fill. |
|
Key Light

Key light 100ws @ full pwr with honeycomb grid camera right, metered at f/8, notice the hard shadows. |
Key + Fill

The fill helps to soften the shadows. |
