j-bomb-04Started building a couple more J-Bombs like the F-Bomb from this previous article.

I have a pretty good stock of the bottles as my co-workers gave me a bunch after seeing the first F-Bomb. These bottles are taller than the previous one, and make a little more aesthetic prop, as well as giving me a little extra room to airbrush.

I built 2 this time, one with the same fins from the first F-Bomb, and the other with a round "torpedo" style set of fins that slightly taper. This new style also has a slightly different funnel giving it a little different look.

Here is what you will need if you want to make one for yourself:

  • Glaceau Water Bottle 33.8oz
  • Small funnel
  • DVD Video Case
  • Dreme
  • lHobby Grade Super-Glue / "CA" (Cyanoacrylate)
  • Model Putty or Bondo
  • Sandpapers (150-500grit)
  • Hobby Knife / Razor blades
  • Paints & Clear Coat

Start by cutting the neck off the bottle right at the beginning of the taper. I use a Dremel with cut-off wheel, but you can get through it with a hobby knife if your persistent.

Then cut off the bottom of the bottle with your Dremel or hobby knife. There is a mold line at the bottom that you can follow for a nice straight cut.

I have some small plastic caps that fit perfectly on top of the bottle to seal the hole we just made, but you can use the cap that came with it if you want. Either cut it down so its more like a button or use it as is. Glue that on the top with your CA, try not to get too much CA on the bottle, you'll just have to sand it off later.
