Airbrushing

DIY Mini Silent Compressor

01After building the first DIY Silent Compressor I had an obsession to build a smaller version using a mini refrigerator motor and some re-purposed tanks for the air reservoir. Unlike the previous build, there was no donor compressor to start with. This would be a complete scratch build that required a bit more fabrication than the previous, and was quite fun to build.

Wolf with Snow

wolf_finishedMy wife loves wolves, so I decided to put my dagger stroke skills to the test. A billion dagger strokes, some pen and a hand cramp later I finished this Wolf with Snow.

I learned a lot about how to use the different brushes to pull small detail while doing this piece, it was fun but tedious. I still have a cramp in my thumb from it... The project took me about 5-6hrs working 1-2hrs at a time.

My wife Crystal really liked it and that made all the cramps and frustration worth it.

Airbrushing Bowling Pins

bowling_pins-01I'm always looking for new 3D items to airbrush. I created the J-Bombs to give me something unique to paint and were just an overall cool item. A friend of mine who works in the bowling industry recently offered me some Bowling Pins, I jumped on the offer! What could be cooler than some Hot-Rod bowling pins, or some cool designs on a unique item.

DIY Silent Compressor

past_lifeI've had a 3 gallon pancake style tank sitting in my garage for about a year or so now after purchasing my SilentAire 20A. The tank was from a Harbor Freight 3 gallon 100psi oil-less compressor. The original configuration of the compressor was VERY loud and refilled constantly during use with only a 15psi differential between the cut-in and cut-out pressure.

Quick How-To Add filter to paint bottles

A quick video I put together testing a new little Gumstick camera. One of the forum members and I were talking about adding simple filters to his paint botles to keep any stray solids from clogging the airbrush. So thats what this video is about, how to add those filters. Enjoy.

J-Bombs

j-bomb-04Started building a couple more J-Bombs like the F-Bomb from this previous article.

I have a pretty good stock of the bottles as my co-workers gave me a bunch after seeing the first F-Bomb. These bottles are taller than the previous one, and make a little more aesthetic prop, as well as giving me a little extra room to airbrush.

I built 2 this time, one with the same fins from the first F-Bomb, and the other with a round "torpedo" style set of fins that slightly taper. This new style also has a slightly different funnel giving it a little different look.
